I made my first trip to Calcutta in 2008 and during that visit, I tracked down Cinemawallah Salim, the celebrated bioscope man who still takes his movie machine in the streets of his neighborhood, charging young and old the fine fee of 1 Rupee to peer into the drum operated rig  and view a montage he puts together from discarded film strips – a greatest hits in some sense of SRK films and old classics. This piece aired on Radio Netherlands’ The State We’re in.
